Space Elevators will Enable Dreams of Others

Dreaming of the future leads to stated visions that will then lead to programs developing dreams.  This process has been around forever; however, for the future of movement off planet, this dreaming has been accelerating the last 200 years.  During the last 63 years recognition surfaced on how hard it is to accomplish space based visions.  The difference in the last six months is that the Space Elevator can now  be developed as the material is finally available.  Just taking one dream illustrates the difficulty.  Mr. Musk has stated he needs 1 million tonnes of cargo to Mars.  His current plan is to have 100 tonnes per mission Starship.  However, he has also stated he needs four support launches for each mission Starship, for a total of five launches per flight to Mars.  This leads to 50,000 launches to fulfill his dream when using StarShips.

Space Elevators will provide the capability of 170,000 tonnes per year to GEO and beyond when fully operational.  This results in fulfilling Mr. Musk's customer needs in approximately six years.  (see "Space Elevators are the Transportation Story of the 21st Century" - ISEC 18 month study report at www.isec.org )  The Colony on Mars can be established by StarShips in the near term and then movement of people by StarShip over time.  However, the massive logistics tonnage needed on the surface will be supplied by Space Elevators, in a strategy called Dual Space Access Architecture combined with advanced rockets in a complementary manner to achieve the dreams of a Martian Colony.  A few other visions that can be enabled by massive movement of cargo to support customer needs would be:

National Space Society Vision; “People living and working in thriving communities beyond the Earth, and the use of the vast resources of space for the dramatic betterment of humanity.”

Blue Origin's Visions: "Millions of people living and working in space" and

"I am going to build the road to space." (Mr. Bezos)

 SpaceX's Vision: "Making Humanity Multi-planetary,"

NASA has the Artemis Program for female boots on the Moon by 2024.

"ESA Director General Jan Wörner and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to take Europe to the Moon."  (ESA Announcement 28 Oct 2020).

Conclusion: Space Elevators will Enable Dreams of Others!
